Boston Museum of Science Traveling Program
Schools: Sea Road School, Mildred L. Day and Kennebunkport Consolidated Amount: $588.75 Applicant: Karen Bragdon
This grant will fund two performances by the Boston Museum of Science for all of the RSU21 Fourth and Fifth Graders. The museum has designed traveling programs to support and enrich our present science curriculum. The program for grade 5 is “States of Matter”. In this presentation, educators demonstrate how solids, liquids, and gases change phases and properties due to heating or cooling. The 4th grade presentation is “Now Hear this: The Sound of Silence”. Students learn about vibrations and how changes in their speed or size create sound. They’ll hear a sonic boom, experience how a vacuum diminishes vibration, and see a wine glass shatter solely due to sound.
